Name
Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System Open House: Bruce Trail Guided Hike
,Description
- 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Meet outside the Community Room at City View Park (2500 Kerns Rd. Burlington ON, L7P 1P8)
- Space is very limited; pre-registration required.
Join BTC Ecologist and Land Stewardship Coordinator Mara McHaffie in exploring a local section of the Bruce Trail. We will hike out along the main Bruce Trail and then loop back via the Ian Reid Side Trail for a total of approximately 3.3km. Along the way, we will discuss the Bruce Trail Conservancy's mission to preserve a ribbon of wilderness along the Niagara Escarpment, and the work of the BTC's land stewardship program. We will also stop to learn about some of the plants and animals that call the Escarpment home.
What to bring: Please wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle. Long pants are recommended. Binoculars are optional but welcome. Please note that this hike will involve some hills, as the trail does descend below the escarpment and then back to the top - but there are some great views along the way!
